Research on Eurythmy Therapy

Research efforts in the field of Anthroposophic Medicine are extremely difficult to realise because of the fact that no financially strong pharmaceutical lobby is behind the therapies. At the same time the governmental or public funds which are available for such studies, are absolutely marginal, so there is no hope to count on it yet. In the pharmaceutical field of Anthroposophic Medicine, there are some medium-sized enterprises, which mainly support the cure research, but the therapies such as rhythmic massage, art therapy or just the eurythmy therapy have no lobby and rarely financially strong sponsors.

Yet in the last 15 years considerable efforts have been made. In addition to a variety of studies on therapy concepts - which contain the whole treatment package - and projects that deal exclusively with eurythmy, is here refered to the AMOS study and other projects by the IFAEMM (Institute for Applied Epistemology and Medical Methodology) based in Freiburg. About the effects of eurythmy at workingplaces are emphasized the investigations of Professor Maximilian Moser (Joanneum Research, Graz). The Alanus University in Bonn, Alfter offeres since several years a Masters Course for the different branches of Eurythmy, therefore further scientific work can be expected .

Generally it is to say that research is inadequate funded in the area of eurythmy and eurythmy therapy. Projects are often subsidized by smaller foundations, which are not able to bear the total cost, so research in this area depends essentially on the private commitment of the researchers.  An example the publications of Bräuner-Gülows are mentioned, which have published about the eurythmy therapy in a variety of medical areas.
